A professional artist since 1978, Escamilla is one of El Paso's leading Impressionist painters. An award-winning artist, he was a finalist in the 2009-2010 Texas State Artist competition and featured in the E.P. Museum of Art’s "Inquisitive Eyes" exhibit. Inducted into the El Paso Artist Hall of Fame in 2004, his work has been exhibited in New York, Scottsdale, Museo de Arte de Juarez, Los Paisanos Gallery, and more. Later in his career, Escamilla studied the European Masters, particularly the French Impressionists.
